Capicua Trio
Formed in Utrecht in 2024, Capicua is a long-awaited project from founder and drummer Christian Palmieri alongside Emiel Bothenius Lohman (piano), José Santibáñez (bass guitar), and featuring cellist Katerina Papakostaki.
The band's identity is a deep reflection of Christian’s journey—from his roots in Paraguay to his life in the Netherlands. Their compositions are shaped by emotion, friendships, and loved ones, weaving personal experiences into music. Capicua’s sound is a unique fusion of jazz, world music, contemporary classical, folk, and elements of pop/rock, blending influences from both South America and Europe. The name Capicua, meaning “palindrome” in Spanish, symbolizes introspection—a musical mirror where emotions are internalized and expressed through rich, evocative soundscapes.
